‘nice guys finish first’
and keep their sense of worth
nice guys can reach out far
and still stay down-to-earth
Doug’s hard work was gratitude enough
slouching off was not on his routine
one only needed to catch that gaze
and you’d all know what I mean!
he reached out his firm handshake
you returned it: then you found
that his full life became YOUR witness
to his causes: honour bound.
so the legacy he left us: his shoes will be hard to fill
but deep inside, Doug felt the pride
of so many of us returning his own goodwill……the loving wife…
