Please let us know of any jokes or wisdoms you remember Doug sharing, in the comments below.
Norma shares some of her favorites:
-“Yes, I guess a lot of folks said I could ski effortlessly and gracefully, but dancing? I did the ladies a favour by NOT asking them to dance”.
-”I joined the navy ’cause I didn’t have to wear a tie”
-The last thing he kept saying to Barry and anyone else was “keep on doing what you’re doing”.
tributes far and wide (even few weeks later), but they’ll keep coming, one from a lady in Sudbury, who
Doug boarded with: she was left a widow when her husband was shot in a hunting accident…
Aunt Dorothy’s tribute is: ‘even in sadness, you must feel pride, in the legacy left by someone so special…that spirit will continue to shine lighting the way for others, leaving all of us an example to follow and a remarkable life to remember with grateful hearts…she adds: the words above were meant for Doug…I’m sure he is, and will always be your guardian angel.
…another lady from Kinburn (her son always has been part of the coffee club at the Harbour store):
……we think of you so often, Norma, these days…how busy, how tired, how lonesome you must be…
your happy and cheerful personality has kept you strong during Doug’s illness…and surely will help you now: one day at a time….. Ron and Eleanor Wallace
It was with a heavy heart and great sadness that we heard of Doug’s death….he was always a delight to converse with, always an interesting tale to tell. Both you and he, Norma, are in our prayers.
